WINCHESTER, CA — A house fire broke out Monday evening in Winchester, northeast of Temecula Monday evening, apparently setting off ammunition inside the home, according to California Highway Patrol dispatches.

Cal Fire Riverside County responded to the fully involved structure fire at the home, on the 32500 block of Galleano Ave., just after 5 p.m., according to the fire department and CHP logs. Units responded to reports of a garage fire with audible explosions, the logs show.

Fire officials say the 2,000 square-foot home was fully involved in flames when they arrived at the location.

The Riverside County Fire Department was called out to help with traffic control in the area while crews worked to contain the blaze, the fire department said.

The cause of the fire was not immediately clear.
