Magic Key Terrace Redesign: A Revised Respite Area For Key-Holding Guests

ANAHEIM, CA — The Magic Key Holder terrace above the Trattoria Cafe has become a favorite spot for Magic Key guests day tripping to the Disneyland Resort. When you go, food and beverages are available for purchase, exclusive to the terrace. The space has wide, open windows and views of the park above the Golden Vine Winery, but it has long been in need for an update.

Starting Monday, that terrace is closed for renovation, Disneyland Resort announced.

Work on the new lounge began in stages, Monday, according to a resort spokesperson. With both an indoor and outdoor section of that terrace, the renovation begins in the covered area. The outside portion of the terrace will stay open for Magic Key Holders during the renovation.

The new design elements are reminiscent of "old California" with an updated look and feel in golds and teal-blues. This extends the exclusive pass holder bar area which began as a concept in 2020 before the year long closure of the Disneyland Resort due to coronavirus pandemic concerns.

Imagineers, such as Kim Irvine, first developed a backstory for the terrace.

"The new backstory for the Magic Key Terrace is that it is a "beautiful hacienda recently purchased by a young couple," the OC Register reported Irvine explaining.

In true fixer-upper style, Imagineers aimed to keep the existing charm while adding contemporary notes through color and texture.

When it's done later this spring, expect climbing vines, wide leafed trees, wall fountain, soaring drapes that puddle to the floor, all sound-softening elements. Also, look for elaborate on-trend light fixtures.
