Major Injuries As 2 Temecula Pedestrians Hit By Truck: CHP

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.

TEMECULA, CA — Two people were hospitalized with major injuries after they were hit by a truck in Temecula, the CHP reports. The duo were in a crosswalk at the time, but the driver did not see them, officials say.

It happened Wednesday around 8:34 p.m. at the intersection of Madigan Street and Morgan Hills Drive, according to CHP Officer Mike Lassig. The victims included a 49-year-old woman and a 51-year-old man. Both are residents of Temecula.

A 61-year-old Temecula woman was headed northbound in a 2017 Chevy Silverado on Morgan Hills Drive when she went to turn left onto westbound Madigan Street, Lassig said.

"[The driver] did not see [the two people] walking within the crosswalk and struck both of the pedestrians with her vehicle," Lassig said in a news release. "After the impact, both [pedestrians] sustained major injuries."

The duo was rushed to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar, according to the CHP. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities.
