Native American Film Festival Planned At Pechanga Resort Casino

The stage has been set for the 2022 California’s American Indian and Indigenous Film Festival (CAIIFF). One of the largest Native American film festivals in the country, the two-day event takes place April 2-3 at Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula, Calif. It features a powerful lineup of live theatrical production, a short documentary and a full-length documentary that features Native and Indigenous stories, directors, actors, producers and more. The event also includes youth activities and Q&A sessions.

• Saturday live theatrical production – Bear Grease (California premiere): $15-$25

• Saturday youth program: FREE

• Sunday screening – Imagining the Indian: (World Premiere) $10

“CAIIFF is thrilled to bring audiences back, we return with our first live action theatrical production, the California premiere of Bear Grease, a hilarious indigenous twist on film and musical Grease and the world premiere of Imagining the Indian – the fight against Native American mascots is a feature-length documentary that examines the movement to eliminate racist symbols featuring Olympian Billy Mills,” said Dr. Joely Proudfit, CAIIFF Director.

The artwork for this year’s festival was commissioned by Monica Zavala, an alumnus of California State University San Marcos.
