New Trails At Temecula's Ronald Reagan Sports Park Up For Discussion

The city has asked for public comment regarding new trails planned for the beloved sports park in the center of town.

TEMECULA, CA — Ronald Reagan Sports Park is due for some changes in the coming months, and the city of Temecula has asked for public comment on adding new trails.

A community meeting to discuss the trails and the future plan will take place at 5 p.m. on Wednesday at the City Hall Conference Center located at 41000 Main Street.

In a social media post, a city spokesperson asked for input on the design and development of trails that are planned for the park, advising commenters to attend the meeting.

Residents already weighed in their ideas over Facebook posting. Among the more popular ideas included:

"Plant more trees, making the trail doable during the hot summer."

Another commenter suggested adding "native plants, like California poppies, with interpretive educational signage, benches with sun shades, and water stations along the way." This commenter suggested there be two areas of focus: Temecula history and another focusing on environmental aspects of native plants.

"Outdoor workout stations, like Audie Murphy Ranch," said another resident. "Really a great addition to walking paths and the equipment is weatherproof and durable, fixed to the ground."

Still, other residents asked about the possibility of including a bike park and mountain bike trails in the otherwise bike-friendly Temecula city.
