RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — It May be Springtime and we are already planning for summer breaks-- but Mother Nature seems to be throwing us a curve-ball this week in the Southland. National Weather Service officials issued a "winter weather advisory" between 8 p.m. Tuesday and 11 a.m. Wednesday.
"Heavy snow accumulations are possible in the San Bernardino and Riverside County mountains tonight through Wednesday morning in strong showers," the NWS said Tuesday afternoon.
Officials said the "brunt" of precipitation will hold off until after dark.

The agency warned area drivers to be prepared for slippery road conditions and reduced visibility as the storm hits.
"Snow levels will hover around 6500 ft today and dip to 5500 ft tonight," the agency said. "Snow accumulations will mainly be 1-3 inches above 5500 ft, however up to 6 inches are possible where stronger showers develop."
