SWR Man Arrested In Park For Alleged Heroin Possession

Deputies were following up on a "suspicious person in vehicle" tip, officials said.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — A 28-year-old man was arrested for suspected possession of heroin Friday shortly before 8:30 a.m. as deputies responded to a report of a suspicious person in a vehicle at Creekside Park in Lake Elsinore, according to officials.

Francisco Hernandez, of Lake Elsinore, allegedly was in possession of nearly two grams of heroin, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department said. He was booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta, and his vehicle was towed, the agency said.

The department reminded residents and business owners to report suspicious activity by calling Dispatch at (951) 776-1099, or 911 if the matter is an emergency. Citizens also may submit tips using the Sheriff's CrimeTips online form.
