Temecula History Day Planned For Saturday

Head to the Sam Hicks Monument Park Saturday in Old Town to "travel back in time" with games, food and fun.

TEMECULA, CA — It's time to take a look back into the past with a celebration of Temecula's storied history. Saturday is Temecula History Day, hosted by the Community Services Department. All are invited to the festivities from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Sam Hicks Monument Park, located at 41970 Moreno Road in Old Town Temecula.

"Travel back in time to explore Temecula's rich history with educational games such as "Flood the Temecula Canyon," "Great Acorn Gathering," and "Temecula Rooster Pull Race."

There will also be tractor races, prizes, candy, live music, and more. The first 200 to arrive will receive free kettle corn and lemonade starting at 11 a.m., according to the city.

Temecula Mayor Pro Tem James "Stew" Stewart shared his thoughts on the upcoming event in a recent statement.

"Our beautiful City’s unique, rich history will be celebrated at Temecula History Day," he wrote. "This is the perfect opportunity to learn all about our pioneers and legends who helped shape Temecula to what it is today! This is truly an engaging, educational, and entertaining annual event that will provide fun for the whole family while celebrating our community’s Old Traditions and New Opportunities.”
