Temecula Man Identified in Deadly Crash

Police say the man was driving a relative's car he took without permission.

A 24-year-old local man has been identified in a deadly Temecula crash, coroner’s officials report.

Authorities responded at 6:23 a.m. Friday to a report of a single-vehicle crash into a tree near the intersection of Solana Way and Del Rey Road, sheriff’s Sgt. Joseph Greco said.

Sean McGuire of Temecula was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Riverside County coroner’s office.

Investigators determined McGuire was driving a Honda Civic east on Solana Way, approaching Del Rey Road, when he lost control of the car and slammed it into a tree on the south side of the road, sheriff’s officials said.

He was allegedly driving a relative’s car he took without permission, Greco said.

The car sustained major damage to the front and driver’s side, and county fire officials said the victim had to be cut from the wreckage.

Solana Way between Via Norte and Del Rey Road was expected to remain closed for several hours while the investigation was conducted.
