Temecula Valley Wine Country Nominated For '10 Best' In USA Today

The region is among 20 nationwide in the running for top 10 status. Online voting ends Aug. 2.

TEMECULA, CA — Congrats, Temecula Valley Wine Country!

The local, grape-growing community is among 20 nationwide to be nominated by USA Today as a contender for 10Best Readers’ Choice for “Best Wine Region.”

The 20 nominees, selected by wine-industry experts, will be whittled down to the top 10 via readers' online voting, which ends Monday, Aug. 2 at 9 a.m.

“Thank you, USA Today, and thank you to the tourism and wine industry in Temecula Valley,” said Visit Temecula Valley President and CEO Kimberly Adams. “It has been a difficult year, but we’ve risen above its challenges and we are proving our resilience and perseverance. We hope our region will support us with their votes.”

Temecula Valley faces stiff competition in the USA reader poll, particularly from other California wine regions.

Also in the running for "10Best" from the Golden State: Anderson Valley; Lodi; Mendocino; Napa Valley; Paso Robles; Russian River Valley; Santa Lucia Highlands in Monterey County; and Sonoma Coast; along with Valle de Guadalupe in Baja California.

Other wine regions selected from across the U.S. are in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, New York, Oregon, Texas, Virginia and Washington, plus one from Canada.

“Temecula Valley Wine Country is honored to receive this recognition along with so many respected wine regions," said Krista Chaich, Temecula Valley Winegrowers Association executive director. "I applaud our wine community that works tirelessly to make every bottle and every visit special.”

The Temecula Valley wine region is a mega-boon to the area, drawing travelers and locals to its 50 or so wineries that routinely host learning experiences, concerts, dining, signature events and meet-and greets with winery owners.
