Training Camps Underway This Summer In Temecula For Girls Field Hockey
There is no experience necessary to play field hockey -- a fast-paced fun game!

TEMECULA, CA -- A summer training camp for girls field hockey is taking place in Temecula this summer, and coaches from Great Oak High School are currently recruiting players for the upcoming fall season.
Great Oak Girls Field Hockey began play last fall competing as a junior varsity squad against teams from Southern California. For 2016, GOHSFH is planning to field two all-girls teams — varsity (letter-eligible) and junior varsity — and planning a full season of games and tournaments.
Led by head coach Liz Hammond, last year’s team was the first in Riverside Country, according to organizers.

With the help of the GOHSFH parent support group board, the team is currently recruiting players for the upcoming season.
Summer training is taking place now and throughout the summer from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, led by assistant coach Stacey Savin.

The training camp consists of sport education, skills training, significant amounts of open play and a comprehensive-conditioning program. The team is scheduled to compete in a 7V7 Summer League, as well as compete in the Cal State Games in July.
Each player who registers for the camp receives a reversible team jersey for use during training camp and the regular season.
There is no experience necessary to play field hockey — the sport is similar to soccer or lacrosse in structure -- and is a fast-paced, fun game that relates well to almost any sport. Even for those who have never played a sport, GOHSFH coaches will teach everything needed to know in order to compete. The sport does not compete with soccer, basketball, track and field, lacrosse, swimming or water polo, organizers said.
GOHSFH is also planning Summer Fun Camps for young players in grades 3-8 for this summer.
