• Philz Coffee Workers Unionize at Glendale, Torrance Locations (mynewsla.com) — Philz Coffee baristas at the Torrance location have voted to unionize, joining UFCW Local 770 to gain a stronger voice on safety, scheduling, wages, and transparency. Their decision follows concerns after the company's sale to private equity and a briefly enforced ban on Pride flags, and will lead to contract negotiations affecting day‑to‑day work at the Torrance café.
   

• Downey Deputies Arrest Six Allegedly Connected to Carjacking, Theft Ring (mynewsla.com) — Torrance residents should know that their local SWAT team joined a large multi-agency operation that helped Downey police break up an alleged high-end car theft and carjacking ring. Officers from Torrance and several other cities executed 11 search warrants, arresting six suspects and recovering nine stolen vehicles and more than a dozen firearms tied to crimes across Los Angeles and Orange counties.
