• Council opts not to pursue shelter grant (hidesertstar.com) — Twentynine Palms City Council has decided not to pursue a state grant that could have turned the former Rite Aid into an emergency shelter and resilience center run with The Hope Center. Supporters argued the project would bolster disaster and extreme-weather response, while opponents worried about tight deadlines and city costs of up to roughly $50,000.
   

• Operation: Consequences serves warrants targeting street gangs and weapons, one arrested in Twentynine Palms (z1077fm.com) — Sheriff’s deputies recently arrested a suspect on Bailey Avenue in Twentynine Palms during a countywide crackdown on gang-related weapons offenses. As part of Operation Consequences, investigators served 23 warrants, seized 19 firearms including ghost guns, and made 11 felony arrests across San Bernardino County, though officials say details remain limited due to ongoing investigations.
