5 Shot At Union City Cemetery

Police are seeking suspects and a motive.

UNION CITY, CA — Five people were shot at Chapel of the Chimes Cemetery in Union City just after 7 p.m. Thursday. All have been hospitalized for their injuries. No arrests have been announced.

Union City Police Lt. Travis Souza reports that the shooting happened in the area of the Cemetery near the main mortuary. Officers who responded to 911 calls found 3 victims suffering from gunshot wounds. A fourth victim was located a distance away from the scene. All were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Then, police were notified by a local hospital that someone had shown up for treatment with a gunshot wound. That brought the total number of victims to five.

"Two of the victims are in critical condition, the other three are in stable condition," Souza said in a printed statement. "The names, ages, and gender of the victims are not being released at this time."

The motive was not initially clear.
