Award-Winning Project In Union City

The goal of the project was to create a greener, more pedestrian-friendly neighborhood

UNION CITY, CA — Have you driven up H Street recently? The beautiful improvement project has been awarded Project of the Year in the Environmental Projects- less than $5 million category by the Northern Chapter of the American Public Works Association’s (APWA).

It has now been nominated for a national award.

The goal of the project was to create a greener, more pedestrian-friendly neighborhood along H Street in the Decoto District of Union City.

According to a social media posting by the City of Union City, "The H Street Green Street Improvement Project is a modern renovation of your local Union City street. Three new features can be found on H-street: permeable pavement parking, bio-soil curb extensions, and reduced crosswalk distances."
