The Puerto Rican Union of Mutual Aid, Inc. dates back to 1937 when it was founded by a group of Puerto Ricans who moved to the East Bay from Hawaii.
Its purpose is to help Puerto Ricans in the Bay Area and to keep the Puerto Rican culture alive through its food and music. The organization's ongoing dances raise funds to support educational scholarship programs and other charitable endeavors.
