Gun Tossed From Window During Police Stop, Recovered By UCPD
"With Dry Creek Park not too far away, who knows who could have found the gun if it was not immediately located."

UNION CITY, CA — Police arrested one suspect after recovering a loaded semiautomatic handgun near the area of a traffic stop. It happened in the area of 11th and Stone streets.
According to a social media post by Union City Police, the vehicle was stopped for vehicle code violations. After contacting the occupants, the vehicle was released.
But then, police report, K9 Officer Andrew Moya found the handgun near the area of the stop. "Surveillance video in the area showed that prior to the stop, unbeknownst to K9 Officer Moya, the subject in the vehicle threw the gun out of the window."

Officer Nathan Geldermann tracked down the vehicle again and stopped it. Police say the person who discarded the gun admitted that it was his and was arrested on suspicion of firearms charges.
Police also said, "With Dry Creek Park not too far away, who knows who could have found the gun if it was not immediately located."
