New Haven Unified School District Offers Information About Bond Measure M

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 4.

The District’s bond initiative on the November ballot has been designated Measure M by the Alameda County Registrar of Voters. Measure M will ask District voters to approve raising up to $125 million for school renovation and modernization, school safety and security, improvements to computers and technology and other projects. The measure, which requires the approval of 55 percent of voters, calls for a tax rate of $48 per $100,000 of assessed valuation.

The ballot statement: “To continue critical school renovation and modernization projects, replace old portables with permanent classrooms, update school safety and security, improve student access to computers and technology, upgrade athletic facilities, increase the energy efficiency of classrooms and buildings, replace, acquire, construct and renovate District facilities and provide District-wide technology improvements, shall the New Haven Unified School District issue $125 million in bonds at legal interest rates with an independent citizens’ oversight committee?”
