Police: Jealousy Apparent Motive in Fatal Union City Nightclub Shooting
Fremont police arrested two men in connection to the homicide. Witnesses can leave anonymous tips by calling (510) 675-5207.

Police in Union City have released the name of a 32-year-old man killed during a shooting in the parking lot of a Union City nightclub on Friday night.
Tjorn Ernis MaGee, 32, of Salinas was fatally wounded during the shooting. Officers discovered MaGee suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and immediately began performing CPR and other life-saving measures, but police said the man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Soon after the incident, Fremont officers stopped a van matching the witnesses’ descriptions on Interstate Highway 680 near Washington Boulevard. Two men were arrested at the car stop and police said a subsequent investigation confirmed they were the suspects in the homicide.
“Arrested in connection with the homicide are Gary Wayne Gates, 53, from East Palo Alto and 53-year-old Kenneth Throne Young of San Jose,” Acting Lieutenant Matias Pardo said in a statement. “They are currently in custody pending arraignment scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at the Fremont Hall of Justice.”

According to Pardo, investigators believe the motive in this case was likely jealousy in regards to an ex-girlfriend and her interaction with the victim.
