Fremont Family Displaced, Neighboring House Damaged In Fire
The Wednesday evening blaze was on Florence Way.

FREMONT, CA -- A fire in a Fremont home's garage on Wednesday evening singed a neighboring house but firefighters managed to keep it from causing serious damage, a fire division chief said today.
Firefighters responded to the burning single-story house on the 38000 block of Florence Way at 6:20 p.m. and found heavy flames at the front of the home, Fremont Fire Division Chief Diane Hendry said. It appeared the entire front of the house was on fire.
The flames were starting to spread to a neighboring home, so firefighters immediately put water on the front of the house to keep it from spreading, Hendry said.

They then got inside and extinguished a fire in the garage and attic. A car in the garage and another in the driveway also burned in the fire, Hendry said.
No one was home when the fire broke out and no one was injured.

The firefighters "did a good job getting on that exposure and then making sure both houses were clear of occupants," Hendry said.
There was heavy fire damage to the garage and an interior door failed, so there was some fire and smoke damage to the rest of the house, Hendry said. The family who lives there has been temporarily displaced.
The neighbor's home was also singed, but not damaged enough to displace the residents there.
It appears the fire started in the garage, but the exact cause remains under investigation, Hendry said.
