Second I-880 Shooting This Week

No one was injured in the second shooting, under investigation by the CHP. (Breaking)

HAYWARD, CA — Just one day after a man was shot in the head during a suspected road rage incident, a second shooting has been reported on I-880. The latest happened at 10 p.m. Tuesday in Hayward, according to the California Highway Patrol.

This time, the shots were fired in the northbound lanes near Jackson Street, according to CHP Officer Joseph Fowler. No one was injured.

CHP officers responded to the scene of the shooting but were unable to locate any vehicles in the area. The highway was shut down for about 30 minutes while officers searched the area, Fowler said.

At 10:40 p.m., the CHP was notified that the victim in the shooting had driven to the Hayward Police Department. The two juveniles in the vehicle were interviewed about the crime.

No information has been released about the suspected shooter or the shooter's vehicle.

There is no update on the condition of the victim shot Monday.

The CHP's Golden Gate investigative services unit continues to probe both shootings.
