Texas Roadhouse Burns In Union City

The smoke was visible more than a mile away.

UNION CITY, CA — The Texas Roadhouse steak restaurant in Union City caught fire Sunday morning. Alameda County firefighters responded to the fire just before 10:30 a.m. A large column of smoke was visible from over a mile away.

All of the employees got out of the building before firefighters arrived. The restaurant was scheduled to open at 11 a.m., so no customers were inside.

According to firefighters, "An aggressive fire attack contained the 1-alarm fire to the kitchen area. Extensive overhaul prevented further damage." The grease fire extended to the roof and insulation.

There were no reports of injuries.

The exact cause of the fire is under investigation.

The restaurant will be closed for an extended period of time. If only Texas Roadhouse will do, the next closest restaurant is located at 2422 Naglee Road in Tracy, 95304.
