This Week: Parent Workshop, College Planning, Soccer, Piano and Planning Commission Meeting

Here are five things going on this week that you need to know about:

• Kids ages 4 to 16 with a love of soccer can sign up on Monday at 11:30 a.m. for the Union City Youth Soccer League Spring Soccer. Walk-up registration will be at Mountain Mike’s Pizza, located on 32170 Dyer St. in Union City.

• On Tuesday at noon stop by and enjoy perfect piano music at a free Valentine’s Day Concert at the California State University East Bay's music department.

• On Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. try the Parent Workshop, “Practical Strategies to Promote Positive Behaviors in Your Kids” put on by New Haven Unified School District. Learn techniques for promoting good behavior. The seminar will be held at the Educational Services Center. To reserve a place, call Marianne Pitta (471-1100, ext. 60425). Child care and translation services are available on request.

• A Planning Commission meeting will be held on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the City Council Chambers at City Hall.

• College Planning is available on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Little Theater at James Logan High School. Juniors and their parents can learn about college admissions and financial aide on “Achievement Night”.
