Convicted Child Molester Still Missing After Skipping Sentencing In SF: DOJ
The 51-year-old was allowed to remain free on $1 million bail as he awaited sentencing for his conviction, according to a recent report.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A 51-year-old man convicted of molesting a child in El Dorado County remains missing months after skipping out on his sentencing, according to authorities.
A jury convicted Carl Cacconie in July 2025 of six counts of committing lewd acts upon a child under the age of 14, according to the El Dorado County District Attorney's Office.
Despite objections from prosecutors, according to the El Dorado County District Attorney's Office, a judge, after the verdict, allowed Cacconie to be let out on a $1 million bond while he awaited sentencing on Aug. 25.

But Caccione never appeared. His ankle monitor last placed him at an address in San Francisco's Sunset District before losing connection on Aug. 17, according to KCRA, which cited an El Dorado County Probation Department record.
California's Department of Justice, meanwhile, says Caccione was last heard from a few days later on Aug. 22. It's unclear where he may be headed, but he is considered a "fugitive from justice," authorities said.

"Do not attempt to approach or apprehend him on your own," authorities said back in August 2025. "We appreciate the community’s support as we work to locate Carl Cacconie and ensure he is held accountable for his crimes."
The renewed interest in the case comes after the victim's family spoke to KCRA about the judge's decision to let Caccione out on bail.
"I don’t understand why you would let him go after he was found guilty," the victim's mother said. "I don’t have an answer, and I wish he—or someone—would give us one. Nobody has explained how this was possible."
Police say the defendant goes by Carl Wheaton Davies Cacconie. He is six feet tall, weighs 240 pounds and has brown eyes and black hair, authorities said. He was living in San Mateo County before the trial, authorities said.
Authorities ask that anyone with more information contact the San Francisco Police Department at (415)-553-1071 or 911.
The El Dorado County District Attorney’s Office urges anyone with information regarding Carl W. Cacconie’s location to call 911 immediately. Do not attempt to approach or apprehend him on your own. We appreciate the community’s support as we work to locate Carl Cacconie and ensure he is held accountable for his crimes.
