Union City Man Fatally Hits Pedestrian In Hayward
Police say the driver stopped and is cooperating with the investigation.
HAYWARD, CA - A Union City man was driving in Hayward early Friday morning when he struck a pedestrian, according to police. The woman did not survive.
The collision occurred at 5:03 a.m. on Mission Boulevard just south of Blanche Street.
The victim, a woman in her 30s, was crossing Mission Boulevard from west to east when she was struck by a gray 2000 Mazda 626 traveling north.

Police and fire crews responded and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
The driver of the Mazda, a 42-year-old man from Union City, stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said.

According to police, it appeared that the victim was crossing the roadway in the dark and was several hundred feet south of a controlled intersection with a marked crosswalk on Blanche Street.
