Barricaded Man in Union City Taken into Custody
The situation ended peacefully seven hours after it started.

UNION CITY, CA — Seven hours after a barricade situation began in Union City, it quietly ended with the suspect taken into custody.
A woman who says she was held captive for two days by an ex-boyfriend was freed earlier during negotiations.
The tense standoff began at 8:20 a.m. Tuesday when the woman called 911, whispered that she needed help and that someone was armed. Then the line went dead.

Police issued a shelter-in-place order for the area of Railroad Avenue and 10th Street, between I and J streets. The residence where this took place is on the 33900 block of Railroad Avenue.
After police arrived, they were able "to secure a woman who exited the home," police report.

The immediate neighbors were either evacuated or sheltered-in-place, and a SWAT teamwas brought to the scene.
The general public was advised to avoid the area.

The evacuations and shelter-in-place orders have been lifted.
