Police reopened Whipple Road in Union City early Saturday following police activity that closed the road Friday night.

UNION CITY, CA — Police reopened Whipple Road in Union City early Saturday following police activity that closed the road Friday night.

A Union City police spokesperson urged motorists at about 8 p.m. Friday that they should avoid using Whipple Road between Medallion Drive and Central Avenue until further notice.

Whipple Road is a major east-west route regularly used by motorists as a crosstown connection between Interstate 880 and Mission Boulevard.
In a news release issued at 2:18 a.m., police announced the reopening of the road without providing additional information about the cause of the police activity.
