William Tu, MD and Kelly Morgan, MD from the Kaiser Permanente Hayward and Fremont Urology Department will present a special lecture on prostate cancer, PSA testing (a screening test that measures the amount of prostate-specific antigen in your blood), prostate cancer management and treatment options. The presentation will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Kaiser Permanente Hayward Medical Center, 27400 Hesperian Blvd., Conference Rooms C1-C3, next to the hospital cafeteria.

“Prostate health after age 50 becomes a major health issue for men,” said Dr. Paul H. Lee, Chief of Urology at Kaiser Permanente medical centers in Fremont and Hayward, who started the once-a-year presentations a decade ago to support men as they made decisions about detection and treatment of prostate cancer.
“We’re pro-active with men’s health at Kaiser Permanente and we offer more than just treatment of patients diagnosed with cancer,” Lee said. “We advocate awareness and education about total health and prevention of diseases including cancer.”
The lecture allows men diagnosed with or concerned about prostate cancer to connect with others in the community at a monthly support and education group in Hayward, also sponsored by Kaiser Permanente.
“Our goal is to help support men and give them the tools to get clarity on what prostate cancer is,” Paul Koch, Kaiser Permanente Senior Health Educator in Greater Southern Alameda Area.
“When the lectures started 10 years ago, it was attended mostly by men diagnosed with prostate cancer,” Dr Lee said. “Now, families and friends are part of the work in spreading awareness about the cancer.”
