MAR VISTA, CA — Actress Anne Heche was in critical condition after she reportedly drove her car into a home, sparking a fire, according to officials and multiple reports.

Authorities responded to the crash shortly before 11 a.m. am at home on the 1700 block of South Walgrove Avenue, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The Los Angeles Police Department did not immediately identify the driver but TMZ reported that Heche, the driver of the blue Mini Cooper that crashed, had been injured in the collision.

"She's lucky to be alive. She has severe burns and has a long recovery ahead. Her team and her family are still trying to process what led up to the crash," the anonymous source said.

Heche reportedly ran a stop sign at the Walgrove intersection and plowed through a row of bushes before the car came to rest inside the home, KTLA reported.

No other injuries were reported.

TMZ reported that earlier, Heche got into a minor collision at a Mar Vista- area apartment complex, crashing into a wall in a parking area, but drove away as people nearby tried to help. The crash into the home occurred a short time later.

Heche was pulled from the wreckage of the home and the vehicle by firefighters on Friday.

She was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, according to Humphrey.

Authorities arrived on scene around 10:56 a.m. to 1722 Walgrove Ave, where "heavy fire" had erupted before their arrival.

It took 56 firefighters a little over an hour to access, confine and fully put out stubborn flames within the heavily damaged home. The structure was built in 1952 and was severely compromised, LAFD said.
