Fire Destroys Two Venice Homes And Damages Three Others
A three-story home under renovation caught fire, causing damage to a total of five nearby homes.
VENICE, CA — A fire in a three-story home in Venice under renovations completely destroyed the residence and damaged a total of five houses early Monday morning, The Los Angeles Fire Department said.
A 911 call at 10:44 p.m. Sunday night alerted LAFD of the fire, which was later declared a Major Emergency. The fire was extinguished by more than 100 firefighters after an hour and 20 minutes with no injuries reported.
"A total of five homes were damaged. The three-story home under renovation is a total loss as is one of the exposed homes," LAFD's Margaret Stewart said. "Three additional homes sustained damage to the eves from the ember cast."

Though no injuries were reported, the total number of people who were displaced by the fire is unknown, according to Stewart.
Firefighters remained on the scene through the night to conduct overhaul operations. Arson investigators responded to the scene, and the cause and monetary loss of the fire are under investigation.
