L.A. Receives Top Marks in LGBT Attentiveness
The city earned a perfect 100 points in the Municipal Equality Index released by the Human Rights Campaign
Los Angeles, Long Beach and West Hollywood got top scores in a survey of municipal governments’ attentiveness to LGBT issues, the Human Rights Campaign said Thursday.
Each of the three cities earned a perfect 100 points in the Municipal Equality Index released by the campaign. Signal Hill was close behind with 96.
A few other Los Angeles area cities were also surveyed, including Glendale and Huntington Beach, each earning a score of 62. Pasadena had a slightly higher score with 72.

Orange County cities were also surveyed, with Anaheim receiving 61 and Santa Ana earning 59 points.
All of the local communities surveyed scored well above the national average of 56 points.

The survey rates cities on 41 criteria, including passage of non-discrimination laws, employment and contracting policies, transgender benefits, inclusiveness of city services, law enforcement and representation by LGBT leaders.
