New School for Special Needs Students Opens on Westside

STEM3 Academy - For bright, curious, technology- driven students grades K-12 who have social and/or learning differences

Welcome to The Help Group’s STEM3 Academy! One of the few schools of its kind in the nation, STEM3 (STEM Cubed) is dedicated to educating students who are bright, have a passion for STEM-related fields, but benefit from alternative learning methods.

This pioneering school presents an entirely new model for educating students with special needs from kindergarten through high school. Our unique program cultivates a passion for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) by engaging students in projects where they can build and create, honing critical thinking, communication and collaboration skills through science-based inquiry. Classes are hands- on, with most centering around open Innovation Labs where students’ ideas are transformed into real life projects.

Our curriculum was designed to cultivate the natural affinity of many special learners for technical work into a lifelong love of STEM pursuits. We view the learning characteristics of many children diagnosed with autism, ADHD, Asperger’s and other social and emotional challenges as advantages that, with training and motivation, can help them secure meaningful places in the 21st century jobs marketplace. Ultimately, the mission of STEM3 is to help its graduates live more fulfilling lives by preparing them for skilled jobs in coding, engineering, software, application development, game design and other fields following high school or college.
