With Thanksgiving behind us its not time to move forward and think about Christmas! While we might not experience a true “winter” here we can experience some awesome tree lighting ceremonies ALL over Los Angeles. We have rounded up our favorites on the westside most happening this week!
Santa Monica Community Tree Lighting & Santa Parade
Thursday December 3rd 5:30-8:30 pm; Third Street Promenade
Santa is coming to Santa Monica to not only shop until he drops but to spread the spirit of the season! He will parade down the Promenade on the 1300 block, just north of Santa Monica Blvd.
Culver City Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration
Thursday December 3rd 6:00 pm; Culver City Town Plaza (Culver Blvd. and Van Buren Pl.)
The gorgeous 22 foot Rocky Mountain Pine tree which has 7,500 lights is placed in Downtown Culver City. There will cider and cookies and a visit from the big guy!

Venice Sign Holiday Lighting
Friday December 4th 6:15 for the event; 8 pm for the sign lighting
The famous Venice Signs is a staple in this beach town but for the holidays it’s light up with red, white and green! Winward Ave east of Pacific Ave closes for the event which includes live music, a poster contest. There will also be a collection for unwrapped toys for the 9th Annual Muscle Beach Toy Drive and the Great Venice Toy Drive.
Marina Del Rey Christmas Boat Parade
Saturday December 12th 5:55 pm for fireworks and 6 pm for the boat parade (rain or shine); Fisherman’s Village (13737 Fiji Way)
This year marks the 52nd anniversary of the Marina Del Rey Boat Parade. Bring a blanket and gather around Fisherman’s Village or the Burton Chace Park to watch as the 70 boats glide through the marina with holiday lights and decorations in competition. Categories include Best Theme, Best Animation, Best Band, Best Lights and more. The festivities begin at 5:55pm with fireworks, and the boat parade starts at 6pm, rain or shine.
