Police Seek Help Catching Venice Shooter

Authorities today identified a man killed in an apparent gang-related shooting in the Venice area, and appealed for public help in solving the crime.

It happened about 8:15 p.m. Thursday near Seventh and Flower avenues, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Mark Gonzalez, 44, of the Venice area died at the scene, the LAPD said.

The suspect was described only as a male wearing a blue hoodie sweatshirt, who fled in a tan SUV.
