VENICE, CA — Los Angeles County beaches reopened over the weekend and now people can start using the beach for leisure. Piers also reopened Monday at Hermosa, Manhattan and Redondo beaches.

The Los Angeles County Health Officer issued a guidance Thursday announcing the limited reopening at public beaches, citing how the ocean can help relieve stress and help people stay active.

"The only current restrictions are on group sports, including beach volleyball, and gatherings of people between two or more households," Nicole Mooradian, Public Information Officer from the County of Los Angeles Department of Beaches and Harbors, told Patch.

"Both of those restrictions are in the County’s Health Order itself and are not exclusive to the beaches," Mooradian said.

All Los Angeles County beaches reopened May 13 for active use only. The Marvin Braude Bike Trail also reopened in May.
