Westside Brush Fire Jams Traffic Along The 10 Freeway

A small brush threatened a home in the area of the Santa Monica (10) and San Diego (405) freeways interchange in West Los Angeles.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A small brush threatened a home in the area of the Santa Monica (10) and San Diego (405) freeways interchange in West Los Angeles. The blaze backed up traffic along the freeway, and residents were advised to avoid the area.

The fire broke out in the 2800 block of South Military Avenue shortly before 12:30 p.m.

"Firefighters are working to protect the home from the nearby flames, as the fire continues to advance through trees uphill toward the freeway," said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Nicholas Prange. "The vegetation in the area is limited and does not pose risk for a widespread wildfire."
