Girl, 17, Shot to Death in Market Place Parking Lot, Killer at Large

Police are searching the area for a suspect who shot to death a teen at the Market Place on the Marina del Rey border.


A 17-year-old girl was shot and killed tonight in a Marina del Rey parking lot, authorities said.

A hunt is on to find the gunman.

The shooting was reported at 7:53 p.m. at the Market Place near Maxella and Glencoe avenues, said Officer Aareon Jefferson of the Los Angeles Police Department Media Relations Section.

The victim was shot in the head and pronounced dead at the scene, Jefferson said.

According to NBCLA.com, the girl was a passenger in the backseat of a car full of women who had some sort of confrontation with the shooter. The shooter is described as a man wearing a blue beanie who fled the scene in a gray SUV headed onto the 90 Freeway.

According to police, it’s been years since the usually safe city has had to endure a murder.

Police are searching the area, Jefferson said.
