5 Vehicle Crash On I-680 Causes Major Traffic Jam

WALNUT CREEK, CA — A 5 vehicle crash blocked 3 lanes of northbound I-680 in unincorporated Contra Costa County, south of Walnut Creek, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Because of the blocked lanes, traffic backed up almost to San Ramon.

The crash was reported at 11:23 a.m. near Livorna Road. An ambulance responded to the scene but only minor injuries were reported, according to the CHP.

The crash was blocking the three left northbound lanes of the four-lane highway until 12:41 p.m.
