Walnut Creek Armed Robbery: Accused Gang Member Charged
The victim was robbed at gunpoint with an illegal AR-style assault weapon after being followed to their destination.
WALNUT CREEK, CA — The Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office filed felony charges against 18-year-old Leon Cathay Fountain of Antioch accusing him of committing armed robberies in Walnut Creek and Danville.
According to the D.A.'s Office, Fountain and a minor used an illegal AR-style assault firearm and other guns to steal Rolex watches in each robbery.
"In both robberies, the perpetrators followed their victims in vehicles," the D.A.'s Office said in a news flash. "When the victim reached a location and exited their vehicle, Fountain and one of the minors would surround them at gunpoint and demand they hand over their watches."

The enhancements, which would tack on extra prison time if convicted, include one for gang affiliation. "The robbery in Danville was carried out at the direction of the Klap street gang," according to the news flash, "who also told Fountain where to sell the watch. Authorities say the estimated value of the luxury timepieces is between 30-thousand and 40-thousand-dollars."
A Black Acura was used in the Danville robbery that witnesses said had a distinctive marking. That tip from witnesses led police to the suspects. Two hours after the Danville robbery, Fountain and multiple juveniles were arrested in Antioch.
Fountain is jailed at the Martinez Detention Facility. The minors are in Juvenile Hall and have been charged with second-degree armed robbery.
