Charges Filed In Walnut Creek Hit-And-Run That Killed Mother Of 3: DA

Arck Marquez Ramirez, 29, faces two felony counts in connection with the hit-and-run death of nail salon owner Chung Thu Thi "Tammy" Le.

WALNUT CREEK, CA — The Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office has filed a two-count felony complaint against a Brentwood man accused in a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian in Walnut Creek.

Arck Marquez Ramirez, 29, is being charged with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage causing injury, the DA's Office said Tuesday in a news release.

Both felony charges include enhancements for fleeing the scene of a crime and inflicting great bodily injury to the victim, Chung Thu Thi “Tammy” Le.

Around 7 p.m. Oct. 1, Le was struck by a car while she was in a crosswalk at the intersection of North California Boulevard and Civic Drive. She later died from her injuries at a local hospital.

Le was the owner of a nail salon in Walnut Creek. She leaves behind a husband and three children.

The Walnut Creek Police Department took the lead in investigating the fatal collision by gathering witness statements and reviewing surveillance camera images, the DA's Office said.

Once they identified Ramirez as the suspected driver, he was arrested Oct. 14 and was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility. His bail was set at $300,000 as he awaits an arraignment date.
