Woman ID'd In Walnut Creek Hit-And-Run, Police Investigate

A woman was struck and killed at the intersection of No. California Blvd. and Civic Dr. leading to an hours-long closure Saturday night.

WALNUT CREEK, CA — A woman was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver Saturday night in Walnut Creek, police say. Roads were closed for three hours at the intersection at North California Boulevard and Civic Drive during the investigation.

The victim, identified as Chung Thu Le, sustained major injuries in the crash, according to Walnut Creek Police Lt. Jeff Slater. She was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital where she later died, according to Slater.

Shortly before 7:15 p.m. an unidentified driver struck Le as she attempted to cross North California Boulevard, then fled the area.

Walnut Creek police received numerous 911 calls about the hit-and-run collision, some of which included tips on the car that struck her.

Witnesses to the crash told police that the car was either a gold or tan four-door sedan.

Police remained at the scene until 10:15 p.m. when the roads were reopened. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
