WALNUT CREEK, CA — A 22-year veteran California Highway Patrol officer suffered minor injuries Wednesday morning when his motorcycle collided with a car he was pulling over south of Walnut Creek, the CHP said.

Officer Tom Maguire was injured when his motorcycle struck a black Jaguar sedan at about 8 a.m. Wednesday on southbound Interstate Highway 680 near the Livorna Road interchange in unincorporated Alamo, said CHP Officer Brandon Correia. Both the Jaguar and the motorcycle were moving toward the right shoulder when the collision occurred, he said.

Maguire was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, where he was treated for minor injuries and released. Correia said he isn't sure when Maguire will return to work.
