This is the second dialysis center in Walnut Creek and the fifth center to open in Contra Costa County.

Among the state-of-the-art amenities offered at the 7,900 square foot center include upgraded finishes and lighting, a fireplace in the lobby, a dedicated parking lot for patients, heated chairs with massage features, and flat screen televisions for patients to use during their treatment.

The center is expected to be operational later this month and expects to be Medicare certified within the next few months.

Kidney failure is also known as end stage renal disease (ESRD). Kidney transplants or dialysis are two life-sustaining treatment options for this condition. Dialysis is a treatment in which a machine filters toxins and fluids from the blood outside the body.

An estimated 20 million U.S. adults have chronic kidney disease (CKD), which can progress to ESRD. Most are unaware of their condition, as the disease is often symptomless until the kidneys fail. Groups at the highest risk for ESRD include those with diabetes or hypertension, as well as older adults, African Americans, Hispanics, and Native Americans.
