Seasonal Vegetable Gardening: Biointensive Approach

Bio-intensive gardening can reduce the amount of water, fertilizer and space used for vegetable gardens while increasing the amount that is produced.

Contra Costa Master Gardener Janet Miller, part of the team that runs the “Our Garden” demonstration garden and frequent lecturer on the bio-intensive method, will expertly guide the audience through the process of creating a healthy vegetable garden. The presentation will cover a wide range of topics including: soil preparation, starting with seeds and transplants, cover crops, fertilizing, irrigation, mulching, planting times and selecting the right crops. Attendees will leave the lecture with the knowledge necessary to create their own bio-intensive garden.
