In Walnut Creek: Free Family Art Day this Saturday

Come out for FREE Family Art Day this Saturday!

Do your kids love to tinker and create? Is your family’s idea of heaven digging into fresh clay or painting together? Walnut Creek Civic Arts Education is opening their doors to parents and kids to explore their creative sides together on Saturday, April 25. FAMILY ART DAY will be a fun and free family event from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Shadelands Art Center, 111 N. Wiget Lane.

On tap for the day are:

  • exciting, interactive arts activities with our top-notch instructors, including self-portraits, jewelry making, creating with clay, and more;
  • fun outside activities with Orff music and Capoeira;
  • a youth art exhibit;
  • interactive art in the lobby area throughout the event;
  • yummy lunch available for purchase at a taco truck stationed in the parking lot.

Young artists exhibiting in the youth art exhibit will be honored at a ceremony at 11:30 in the Shadelands auditorium. Family Art Day will also feature an “arts passport” which families can use to enter into raffle drawings for a $100 certificate toward CAE’s very popular Arts, Academics & Adventures Summer Camp, and a $50 certificate toward any youth Makers Series class. Attendees will also be able to learn about financial aid at Civic Arts Education, and how to apply.
