How Does Your Kid's Public School Rate? Here are Some Numbers for You

STAR scores recently came out, just in time for the beginning for school. But STAR tests are not the only way to get a statistical picture of the Walnut Creek public school your kids attend--or where you want to buy a home. Check here for more data.

When STAR test results were released last week, many of us checked them out to see how students in our neighborhood schools were doing.

We can also go online and check out API scores. API scores are announced twice a year and involve a calculation using student scores on the STAR tests to rate  individual school performance.

Beyond STAR and API scores, there is other data that can offer a picture of each Walnut Creek public K-12 school: information on student demographics, discipline, teacher experience. This information is all public, from the state Department of Education, but to get all these individual pieces of information for each school, you would need to hunt through several databases.
