Large Grass Fire Burned In East County Monday

Multiple fire departments sent crews to battle the fast-moving flames.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY — A grass fire broke out east of here on Monday, burning 140-acres along the Alameda County/Contra Costa County line, according to the Alameda County Fire Department.

No injuries were reported and no structures burned.

The fire was first reported around 1:15 p.m., at Byron Road and Mountain House Road.

Firefighters remained on the scene into the night to make sure it didn't flare up.
