New Life Movement, Richmond Non-Profit, Helps At-Risk Students
Local churches are providing help to get STEM lab running for underprivileged youth.
New Life Movement, a Richmond non-profit helps At-risk students.
Bendrick Foster, Executive Director of New Life Movement was raised in Richmond but began to exhibit delinquent behavior in middle school and dropped out of school completely by 9th grade.
He became a drug dealing, gun-carrying player on the streets of Richmond. In 2014, a new life began for Bendrick, and he recognized not only his errors, but in creating a new life for himself, he decided to help neighborhood youth to change their behaviors.

Today, Bendrick continues his advocacy and direct youth outreach intervention through his organization, New Life Movement (NLM). Bendrick has been working with the local school district and now has contracts with three different local schools to promote school attendance and teach life skills. NLM mentors at-risk youth and collaborates with other local organizations to create a network to support their success.
Recently members from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, (Walnut Creek California Stake), along with the Christian Science congregation from Pleasant Hill, painted a STEM Lab for New Life Movement. This lab will help NLM to mentor and teach entrepreneurial skills to youth in the Iron Triangle region of Richmond. The youth will use computers, 3D printers, and a screen printer to design and make T-shirts and hoodies. They will then market and sell the goods. The two congregations were excited to promote the good works emulated by this organization.

A humanitarian grant from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will provide computers and printers for their new STEM lab. NLM will use this equipment to help expose youth to better choices in their education and encourage at-risk youth to make better decisions for their life. A donation of 400 backpacks also enabled NLM to provide for at-risk and low-income students.
