The jackpot for Tuesday night's drawing has soared to an estimated $454 million.

That rings up in the Top 10 most valuable U.S. jackpots of all time.

The California Lottery planned for brisk sales today, according to lottery spokesman Alex Traverso, "Anytime the jackpot gets to be this high were always very excited. Lots of people going out to buy tickets for tonight's draw it's the seventh largest jackpot of all time so naturally people are going to be excited.”

The last Mega Millions drawing was Friday when five ticket holders managed to match five winning numbers but missed the Mega number. Those tickets, worth $1 million each, were sold in Oklahoma, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and New York.
