Walnut Creek Program Has Volunteers Delivering Groceries
A new program, Walnut Creek Neighbor Express, helps those at high risk for the coronavirus receive groceries delivered by volunteers.
WALNUT CREEK, CA — For seniors or others who are at higher risk for the coronavirus, even getting groceries can be a dangerous task. That's why the City of Walnut Creek has launched a new program: the Walnut Creek Neighbor Express, which has volunteers shop and deliver groceries to those who can't get them themselves.
Residents over 60 can opt to receive frozen dinners from Meals On Wheels, otherwise users can set a custom shopping list and a volunteer will pick the food out at the store. Recipients will still need to pay for those groceries, however.
